THE PASTOR’S PASSIONJune 2, 2009
May the Lord give you peace. That’s my passion. That there would be God’s peace in the hearts and minds of His people and that God’s people would be instrumental in bringing others to that peace. So, let me introduce myself. My name is Willis Daniel McLamb. My parents nicknamed me “Danny” at an early age, and it stuck. But I am especially fond of my real name “Daniel” which means, God is my judge. I have been called as pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church, and have been pastor here one month. My wife’s name is Edwina, and I have 3 children, Curtis, Sara, and Jessica. God has given me a passion for marriage and children, and for bringing people into a wonderful relationship of peace with their Creator. As a pastor, my calling is to preach and teach the word of God, and to prepare His children for the ministry. I take my calling very seriously, and I hope that you do also. I love God’s people and want to see each one grow to their full potential. I have a special passion for men’s ministry. I believe that men need someone to come alongside and help them be the spiritual leaders of their families and church that God intended them to be. I believe God wants men to “Man Up!”, that is to be equipped to serve and be ready to take a stand for what it right and moral, even if everyone else goes against it. That’s where Daniel comes in. Daniel was one of the great heroes of the faith, and not one word is mentioned in the Bible against Daniel or against his integrity. And, he always stayed the course. Never once turning aside to follow the crowd. He was a real man. So, I have this passion to lead a men’s Bible study, appropriately called, “Man Up!” Somewhere in the center of Bladenboro; somewhere unaffiliated with a church; somewhere that men of all races and nationalities can come and sit down and be taught the word of God. Will you pray that God will show us a place? I have spent my first month here mostly listening. Many folks have gotten my ear, and spoken to me about problems and issues that they have a genuine passion about. We’ll be having some meetings soon among various groups to discuss these issues. Will you pray that God’s will will be done and that our focus will be on bringing the lost to Christ and teaching them to be God’s servants? I have a great passion for God’s heart. I want to know what He wants, and lead His people to do His will. And, I hope you become passionate about these same things. God wants to do something great at Zion Hill Baptist Church. He just needs a few passionate followers of Jesus who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and turn Bladenboro upside down. I invite you to follow along with me as we join with Jesus to make something happen for His glory. God bless, Pastor Danny
