THE PASTOR’S PASSIONJULY 4 TH, 2009
Greetings to all on this special day for our nation. Today, we celebrate the 233 rd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This document cast us into a war for independence that would last several years and cost some of its signers their lives, and many others, their possessions. Some were cast into prison and lost their jobs. But, they all deemed it worth it if their nation was to experience the freedom it so diligently sought. That reminds me of the many Christians who have lost their lives for the sake of the Gospel. It is truly worth dying for, and it is especially worth living for. As we see more and more individuals come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, I wonder if we will give up some of our precious time to show them His love and compassion? Will we be mentors to them, encouragers who will overlook their mistakes and doubts, and guide them toward great service to our King and His church? I really hope so. As I finish this article, I have had the privilege of seeing some of these new converts, and some visitors, work together to build a playground for our children. I know that we will see many smiling faces over the next few years as more and more children come to be a part of Zion Hill Baptist Church. What if we all worked together to bring them in, and then fellowshipped with them, and made them feel like they belonged in this family? That reminds me, Vacation Bible School starts this Sunday, July 12 th. Will you be a part of this? Even it you don’t have a specific duty, I still want to encourage you to be there. Get to know the kids, and their parents. For those who visit, make them feel welcome. Invite them to join us for worship and fellowship. Be a part of something great! I look forward to seeing you there, and seeing you smile. God bless you. If you’re going on vacation this month, just know that we understand that you need time with your family and friends, and we’ll miss you. And, when you get back, I pray that you’ll be refreshed and ready to go to work for God’s glory. As our country celebrates its independence from foreign rule, let’s celebrate the fact that we have a God we can depend on in every circumstance, and a family that’s there for us in the good times and in the bad. I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God. Aren’t you? God bless, Pastor Danny
